A CNG PRMS (Pressure Regulating and Metering Station) is a critical facility in the natural gas supply chain. It reduces the pressure of CNG from high-pressure storage or transport levels to lower pressures suitable for distribution or end-use and accurately measures the gas flow.

Key Functions:
- Pressure Regulation: Reduces high pipeline pressure (up to 250 – 450 bar) down to usable levels (often 2–19 bar for gas distribution).
- Flow Measurement: Equipped with gas meters to monitor volume and flow rate for billing and monitoring.
- Safety Controls: Includes safety shut-off valves, slam-shut valves, and relief valves to prevent overpressure.
- Filtration: Removes dust, moisture, and other impurities to protect downstream equipment.
Components:
- Inlet isolation valves
- Filters/separators
- Pressure regulators
- Slam shut-off valves
- Pressure relief valves
- Flow meters (ultrasonic or turbine type)
- Outlet isolation valves
- SCADA/telemetry systems
Applications:
- City gas distribution networks
- Industrial gas supply systems
- Commercial and residential supply networks
